Happy Returns
My Southern Belle wife and I are back in our home!
Last night was the first night we spent in our home since evacuating for Hurricane Katrina on August 28, 2005.
It’s not all done by a long shot, but livable. It’s been a long, terribly hard 15 months, but it’s close to over now!
We are going to have a very special Thanksgiving this year.
I was so excited about moving from the “wonderful” government issued trailer across the lawn that I wrote the following little poem to the tune of “No more study, no more books, no more teacher dirty looks,” etc.
No more camper, no more stress
No more cleaning up the mess.
It’s finally over and not too soon,
We thought we would be out by June.
No more bathroom that’s too small
No more dressing in the hall.
No more shower that’s too low
Drop the soap?—you don’t want to know.
No more backaches from the bed
No more bumping of the head.
No more fighting for the mirror,
No more pilot light to fear.
No more fridge that can’t hold food,
No more dark and dreary mood.
Did I talk about my bed?
Not long enough for feet and head.
No more Trailer Trash for me,
Back to Trophy Wife is She!
Now I’m so happy I can sing,
“Come on FEMA, take this thing!”
